Each Soapstone pot is hand-carved to order in Western Kenya. This piece has a hint of pink and beautiful texture which has been hand-calved making it one of a kind and celebrating the quality of the natural stone.

Asili soapstone is sourced in Kisii, a vibrant town in south western Kenya, where communities have been using the material for generations. Soapstone carving is the primary source of income for many families, who sell their work in local markets and shops across Kenya.

Most soapstone quarries in this area are family-owned; the people who own the land also live on it, and are very motivated to protect it. Soapstone is mined by hand, rather than heavy machinery, and the pits are refilled when mining is complete

Please note - the pots do not have drainage holes, therefore it is recommended to use a form of lining to protect the pot from the potential risk of water damage over time.
